Snow Canyon is 9-1 against Hurricane since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Snow Canyon Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Hurricane Tigers at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Snow Canyon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
Last Friday, Snow Canyon faced Dixie in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The game between Snow Canyon and Dixie wasn't particularly close, with Snow Canyon falling 77-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (58), Snow Canyon still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Owen Mackay, who scored 29 points along with two steals. That was a full 48.3% of Snow Canyon's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Trey Kelsch was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Hurricane's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 79-58 defeat at the hands of Crimson Cliffs. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hurricane in their matchups with Crimson Cliffs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Hurricane's defeat came about despite a quality game from Cayleb Jackman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Jackman hasn't dropped below three blocks for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rj Hurst, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Snow Canyon's defeat ended an 18-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-7. As for Hurricane, they dropped their record down to 5-16 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything went Snow Canyon's way against Hurricane in their previous matchup back in January as Snow Canyon made off with a 84-60 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Snow Canyon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
