If The Plainfield Cardinals were feeling good off their 41-7 takedown of the Franklin Warriors last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Plainfield took a 25-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Orange.
When it comes to explaining why Plainfield lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Ala-Meen Watkins. Despite the final result, he rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Watkins was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards. Joel Cordoba also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for West Orange, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Union City the next time they take the field. Plainfield will head out to face Union City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Plainfield will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m.
