El Camino and Oceanside are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Camino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
El Camino gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over San Dieguito Academy.

Kailey Dain was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Cambria Lyon was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: El Camino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Oceanside came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with a 15-4 win. The Pirates' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Oceanside got a massive performance out of Seaven Fuimaono, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Pantoja, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Oceanside's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for El Camino, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. El Camino hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Oceanside struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
