Softball Recap: Broomfield Starts Season with Win Against Legend

Broomfield gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Legend Titans. The Eagles were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Titans, so the Eagles were just returning the favor.

Not much got past Ireland Heer, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Legend off the board.

At the plate, Broomfield let Kiley Wheaton and Lauren Martinez run wild. Wheaton got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Martinez went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in September of 2024.

Broomfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Legend's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Broomfield will host Ralston Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Legend, they will venture away from home to face off against Fossil Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
