Basketball Game Preview: Clarkrange Buffaloes vs. Pickett County Bobcats

Clarkrange is 0-10 against Pickett County since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Clarkrange Buffaloes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pickett County Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Clarkrange lost to Clay County at home by a 84-69 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (55), the Buffaloes still had to take the loss.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Braxton Sears, who posted 12 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. That's the most assists he has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Gunter, who put up 14 points.

Meanwhile, Pickett County entered their tilt with Red Boiling Springs on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the Bulldogs, posting a 71-24 victory. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 24 points or more this season.

Pickett County has also been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Clarkrange, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-11.
