The Gibson Southern Titans will take on the Roncalli Royals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Gibson Southern sitting on five straight wins and Roncalli on six.
If Gibson Southern beats Roncalli with three runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Titans' pitchers stepped up to hand Evansville Central a 3-0 shutout on Friday.
Rhys Sorgius looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grant Stinson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Collin Higginbotham also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Roncalli posted their closest victory since May 22, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Kokomo.
Andrew McHugh tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits.
At the plate, Collin Ash was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Ardizone, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Roncalli was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Gibson Southern's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Roncalli, their record now sits at 6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Gibson Southern has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Roncalli struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Gibson Southern took their win against Roncalli when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
