Swartz Creek (Mich.) extended its winning streak to six games with a 35-17 victory over
Brandon (Ortonville, Mich.) on Saturday.After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Kyle McCanham, the Blackhawks went into halftime with a 17-14 lead. The Dragons took the lead for good with a touchdown run by
James Richards in the third quarter.
Brandon's
Nick Keller played well. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and kicked one field goal and two extra points.
Swartz Creek's most effective player was
Jaylen Schoenfield. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
SC had given up an average of 13.4 points prior to the contest. The 17 points that BHS ended with were well above its average of 6.8 coming into the game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Ortonville school took, 35-7.
Brandon (0-6) will play a Flint Metro game against Linden next week, while Swartz Creek (6-0) will take on Lapeer East also in a Flint Metro game.
