Meanwhile, Natchez posted their biggest win since March 30, 2024 on Thursday. Everything went their way against Amite County as Natchez made off with an 18-1 victory.
Like Port Gibson, Natchez also got a great game from a two-way player: Chris Sewell. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Sewell was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Natchez let Jaylin Neal and Martavis Woods loose on the outfield. Neal scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Woods scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases Neal has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Can Damion Hawkins, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Port Gibson's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Natchez, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-0.
