South Garner is 0-7 against the Pirates since November of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The South Garner Titans will look to defend their home court against the Corinth Holders Pirates at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully South Garner focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Last Friday, South Garner was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-54 to the Storm. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Garner in their matchups with the Storm: they've now lost six in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Taylor Moore, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tamia Darden, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Corinth Holders was able to grind out a solid win over the Rams on Wednesday, taking the game 49-41.
Corinth Holders' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lauren Sizemore led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Kamea Davis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
South Garner's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Corinth Holders, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: South Garner have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 37.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Corinth Holders struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
