The Cromwell/Portland Panthers will take on the Bloomfield Warhawks at TBD on Saturday. Cromwell/Portland is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Cromwell/Portland extended their postseason success on Sunday against Ansonia. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Chargers 28-0 on the road. The result was nothing new for Cromwell/Portland, who have now won seven matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Bloomfield didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Notre Dame Catholic on Sunday, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bloomfield.
Bloomfield had a senior duo take command as Davion Kerr gained 130 total yards and two touchdowns and Davien Kerr rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Kerr hasn't dropped below sixsolo tackles for three straight games.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Notre Dame Catholic to a paltry 181 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bloomfield's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out five times before it was all said and done. In that department, Kerr was the leader with 3.5 sacks.
Cromwell/Portland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Bloomfield, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Cromwell/Portland strolled past Bloomfield in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 21-6. Will Cromwell/Portland repeat their success, or does Bloomfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
