Basketball Recap: Grimsley Skates Past Ragsdale with Ease

Grimsley posted their biggest victory since February 19, 2024 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Ragsdale Tigers 71-35. Given the Whirlies' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Tigers are ranked 566th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sherrod White was a one-man wrecking crew for Grimsley as he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. That's the most points White has posted since back in December of 2024. Kaden Catoe was another key player, going 5 for 9 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

Grimsley was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Angel Rhoades and Malachi King certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Rhoades posted six points and five boards, while King earned ten points. Tamaize Bethea also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Grimsley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Ragsdale, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18.

Grimsley will face off against Western Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grimsley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Western Guilford likes a good challenge. As for Ragsdale, they will head out on the road to square off against Southeast Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ragsdale is facing Southeast Guilford at the right time seeing as Southeast Guilford is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
