East Tech is 7-0 against Collinwood since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The East Tech Scarabs will be home for the holidays to greet the Collinwood Railroaders at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully East Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
Last Friday, the stars were shining brightly for East Tech in a 61-45 victory over Garrett Morgan. Given East Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Garrett Morgan is ranked 561st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Tech had a senior duo take command as Amani Mitchell scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four steals and Chris Simon scored 13 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Mitchell pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keyshawn Wilson, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Collinwood's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Glenville, falling 64-16. Collinwood has struggled against Glenville recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
East Tech's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Collinwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
East Tech took their victory against Collinwood in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 66-42. Does East Tech have another victory up their sleeve, or will Collinwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
