The Crosstown Explorers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 72-10 loss at the hands of Memphis Business Academy. While losing is never fun, Crosstown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Memphis Business Academy is ranked 115th).
Memphis Business Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Curnesha Taylor led the charge by scoring 29 points along with nine rebounds and eight steals. Taylor hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarrin Hill, who scored 14 points along with nine steals and six assists.
Crosstown's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Memphis Business Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crosstown will face off against Memphis Rise Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Memphis Rise Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Memphis Business Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Douglass at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Douglass has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
