The David Anderson Blue Devils will head out to take on the Waterloo Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, David Anderson beat Wellsville 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.
Waterloo never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Memorial on Wednesday. They blew past the Red Devils 10-0. Considering the Vikings have won six games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jolean Hampton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Kristlyn Kehrer and Isabelle Knepp did most of the damage at the plate: Kehrer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Knepp went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was Kehrer's first of the season. Brooke May was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Waterloo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Memorial only posted a batting average of .000.
David Anderson's record now sits at 4-8. As for Waterloo, their record is now 6-1.
David Anderson got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2019 against Waterloo by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
