Softball Recap: Countryside Christian Wins Going Away Against Saint Francis Catholic

Countryside Christian barely beat Saint Francis Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Countryside Christian put the hurt on Saint Francis Catholic with a sharp 8-2 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Minutemen, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Riley Keith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Laila Carter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Countryside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .700. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Countryside Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. Saint Francis Catholic is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Countryside Christian will venture away from home to challenge Riverside Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saint Francis Catholic, they will head out to square off against Cedar Key at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
