The biggest upset of the week belonged to Field Kindley, who took down 75th ranked Chanute, 20-14. James Newton ran for 90 yards and caught five passes for 127 yards in the win.
Newton of the Golden Tornado ran for the longest rushing play in Southeast Kansas this season against the Blue Comets last week.
Field Kindley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Darron Deffebaugh helped Field Kindley's passing attack out by catching three balls for 51 yards.
Nathan Finley put up the best numbers through the air as Murray Zogg's team defeated Chanute. He finished with seven completions for 152 yards.
Jamal Logan made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Golden Tornado beat Don Simmons's team. The 5-foot-11 sophomore recorded one fumble.
5-foot-10 quarterback Johnathan Stark of Fort Scott is the league leader in passing yards this season with 318. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Field Kindley's Wesley Collins has rushed for 374 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Newton. The Field Kindley star has 11 catches for 337 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Golden Tornado take on Pittsburg. Field Kindley is in third place, while the Dragons are in second place.
The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in Southeast Kansas this week by beating Independence, 48-9. The win marks fifth in a row for the Fort Scott.
