AISA A Region 2 recap September 24, 2013
Pickens Academy extended the longest winning streak in AISA A Region 2 this week by beating South Choctaw Academy, 29-7. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Jackson Academy was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to third in the league. The Eagles defeated the Eagles 37-0 earlier in the week.
Jackson Academy's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Caleb Anderson has thrown for 508 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Taylor Roberts has 10 catches for 197 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Eastwood Christian takes on Pickens Academy. At the moment, Eastwood Christian is in sixth, while Josh Thacker's team is in first.
Marengo Academy moved up to 133 from 209 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AISA A Region 2. The Longhorns climbed the ranks as a result of besting Patrician Academy 37-0.
