Cypress Creek is 1-9 against Winter Park since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Amanda Cintron made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Britney Freitez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Izabella Hernandez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winter Park). They walked away with a 9-5 win over Bishop Moore on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Like Cypress Creek, Winter Park also got a great game from a two-way player: Lindsey Allen. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Allen has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that she scored this season.
In other batting news, Rylie Scanlon was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Abby Summers also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Winter Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Cypress Creek's record now sits at 11-1. As for Winter Park, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-9.
Winter Park's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cypress Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .493. It's a different story for Winter Park, though, as they've only averaged .322. Will they be able to contain Cypress Creek's hitters?
Cypress Creek couldn't quite get it done against Winter Park when the teams last played back in February of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can Cypress Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
