After flying high against the Riverside Generals last Thursday, the ED White Commanders came back down to earth. ED White suffered a rough 58-38 defeat at the hands of Columbia on Wednesday. ED White was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-17.
Despite the loss, ED White had strong showings from Leandrea McCloud, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Karli Torres, who scored 7 points along with 18 rebounds and 7 blocks. The match was McCloud's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Alaysha Williams was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 4 steals.
Even though they lost, ED White were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia only pulled down 15.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Columbia to victory, but perhaps none more so than MARIAH COX, who scored 19 points along with 6 steals. COX has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was ERIEL BAKER, who scored 9 points along with 9 steals and 8 rebounds.
ED White now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Columbia, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ED White won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Johns Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th. St. Johns Country Day is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Columbia, they will be playing at home against Rickards at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
