Edgewood and Cocoa Beach are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Edgewood Red Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Cocoa Beach Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Edgewood beat Satellite 44-34. The victory was just what Edgewood needed coming off of a 59-32 loss in their prior matchup.
Edgewood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Calero, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Shelby Preble was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Cocoa Beach can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They really took it to Pineapple Cove Classical Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-19 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Cocoa Beach has posted yet this season.
Cocoa Beach got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kendra Weth out in front who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weth has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Cordis, who scored 11 points.
Edgewood's win was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for Cocoa Beach, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Everything came up roses for Edgewood against Cocoa Beach when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edgewood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
