On Friday, the Nettleton Raiders faced the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Nettleton fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 40-38. Nettleton has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Greene County Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Myiah Butler, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 rebounds and nine blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacey Edrington, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Nettleton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Greene County Tech, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-5.
Nettleton will be playing at home against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully the Raiders like a good challenge. As for Greene County Tech, they will head out on the road to square off against the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Batesville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 14th).
