The West Nassau Warriors suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 57-33 walloping at the hands of Fernandina Beach. While losing is never fun, West Nassau can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while Fernandina Beach is ranked 306th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Thrift, who scored 13 points. Jakari Major was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Leading Fernandina Beach to victory were Chase Landtroop and Terrence Jones. Landtroop scored 17 points along with five rebounds, while Jones scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Parker Greeson, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
West Nassau dropped their record down to 1-18 with that loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Fernandina Beach, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
West Nassau will head out on the road to square off against Hilliard at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fernandina Beach, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against KIPP Bold City at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th.
