Hauser has gone 8-2 against South Decatur recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Jets will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Hauser is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.
Hauser took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Oldenburg Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Jets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Twisters on Saturday, sneaking past 4-3.
Hauser saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Simeon Wasil, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another was Stryker Gill, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
South Decatur came out on top against Tri on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Titans. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
JP Scudder and Grady Scudder were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Scudder tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Grady struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). JP also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Decatur is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise. At the plate, Scudder went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Grady got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Corbin Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Drake Scaggs also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
South Decatur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Hauser pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Decatur, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Hauser was able to grind out a solid win over South Decatur in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. Do the Jets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
