The Burlington Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Yuma Outlaws at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burlington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Yuma will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Burlington extended their winning streak to three on Saturday. The Cougars came out on top against Holyoke by a score of 11-6.

Rowdy Humrich and Daxton Skarphol were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Humrich tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Skarphol struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Humrich got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Skarphol got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Humrich is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Scout Humrich, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maguire Franz, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Burlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Yuma fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Highland on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Outlaws have suffered since April 8th.
Yuma's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Burlington, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Burlington skirted past Yuma 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
