Baseball Recap: O'bryant Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

O'Bryant had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Brighton/Boston Academy Bengals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 back in April.

Karin Montes De Oca and Leugim Melo did most of the damage at the plate: Montes De Oca got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Melo went 2-for-6 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Melo has posted since back in March. Wasly Vizcaino was another key player, getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

O'Bryant's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Brighton/Boston Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-8-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. O'Bryant will venture away from home to challenge Boston International at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brighton/Boston Academy, they will face off against Boston Latin Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Bengals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
