This season hasn't been kind to the Houlka Wildcats, who are still winless after their 13th contest. They took a 44-30 bruising from Vardaman on Tuesday. Houlka lost against Vardaman in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-30 score last time.
Houlka's loss came despite strong showings from Destiny Foster and Olivia Halford. Foster scored nine points, while Halford scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The game was Halford's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Houlka's defeat was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.9 points per game. As for Vardaman, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6.
Houlka will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pine Grove at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Vardaman will be home for the holidays to greet Bruce at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Bruce focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Tuesday.
