It was a good run, but the Union Academy Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 71-54 bruising from Albemarle. Union Academy has struggled against Albemarle recently, as their match on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Union Academy still got an impressive performance from Paisley Boatright, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Boatright hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Ranon Suttle, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Amari Baldwin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Albemarle, scoring 23 points along with four steals. Baldwin is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Bianca Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Union Academy's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2. As for Albemarle, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Union Academy will be playing at home against Charlotte Latin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlotte Latin is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Albemarle, they will head out on the road to square off against Mount Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mount Pleasant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Albemarle is ranked 82nd).
