The Covington Lions lost against the Slidell Tigers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Covington was dealt a 84-49 defeat at the hands of the Tigers. Covington has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Slidell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mike Parlow, who scored 25 points along with three steals. Parlow continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jaden Hookfin was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Covington's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-13. As for Slidell, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covington will challenge the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Slidell, they will head out on the road to square off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Pine will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Tigers are ranked 54th).
