It was a good run, but the Strom Thurmond Rebels unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 45-35 to Emerald. Strom Thurmond was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Emerald apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Jordyn Lee and A.J. Walker certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Lee scored 14 points, while Walker scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Key Holloway, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holloway has scored all season. Caleb Benson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Strom Thurmond's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2. As for Emerald, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Strom Thurmond will take on South Aiken at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Aiken will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Strom Thurmond is ranked 117th). As for Emerald, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Ninety Six at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Ninety Six comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
