Mission Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
Rosemead moved up to 502 from 651 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mission Valley. The Panthers were able to make the jump by beating San Gabriel 16-6.
Gabrielino extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Roybal, 33-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
South El Monte's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mario Burciaga threw for 71 and one touchdown and Javier Machuca had 37 yards receiving. On the ground Leo Artiaga chipped in 162 yards. Jordan Vargas helped South El Monte's passing attack out by catching five balls for 24 yards.
El Monte's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brandon Martinez has thrown for 1306 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Abel Barrajas has 19 catches for 418 yards. Bryan Luevano leads the league in rushing with 452 yards.
Rosemead was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Mission Valley. Marc Paramo's team defeated the Matadors 16-6 earlier in the week.
