Jackson Lambert looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Brownsburg let Colin McNeer and Drew Bostic run wild. McNeer got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two triples, three RBI, and two runs, while Bostic went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave McNeer a new career-high. Brandon Fields also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Brownsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Avon narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Plainfield 6-5.
Carter Beck looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Pennington, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Jack Bland, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI.
Brownsburg's record now sits at 16-8. As for Avon, their record is now 20-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brownsburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Avon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Brownsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Avon in their previous meeting back in May, winning 6-1. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Orioles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
