Even though the Wagner Red Raiders have not done well against the O'Neill Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Wagner managed a 63-57 win over O'Neill. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why O'Neill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Drew Morrow. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven steals. Morrow is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Alder, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Wagner now has a winning record of 5-4. As for O'Neill, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wagner will face off against Burke at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Burke is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for O'Neill, they will head out on the road to face off against Guardian Angels Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
