Durango was led to victory by Amia McKinney and Amarie Riley. McKinney scored 19 points, while Riley scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McKinney has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Valery Hernandez, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Canyon Springs lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kenijae Cherry, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Cherry hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ariyanah Custard, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Durango's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. As for Canyon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
Durango will head out on the road to face off against Foothill at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Foothill is ranked 39th, while Durango is ranked 64th). As for Canyon Springs, they will be playing at home against Del Sol at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Del Sol will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
