Basketball Recap: Bosque Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Cheyenne Anderson and Ainsley Capps

Bosque was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Menaul Panthers. The Bobcats lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 61-24 score last time.

Bosque's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ainsley Capps, who went 13-for-18 on her way to 34 points along with six steals and five boards, and Cheyenne Anderson, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds. The match was Capps' third in a row with at least 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nora Hart, who posted six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bosque smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Menaul's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karlea Apodaca, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 21 points and eight boards. That's the most rebounds Apodaca has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Coral Apodaca, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Bosque's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Menaul, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.

Bosque has already played their next contest, a 59-26 defeat against Cottonwood Classical Prep on the 11th. As for Menaul, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-36 win against Oak Grove Classical Academy on the 11th.
