The Dutch Fork Silver Foxes lost against the Spring Valley Vikings back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Dutch Fork opened the new year with a less-than-successful 53-43 defeat to Spring Valley. While losing is never fun, Dutch Fork can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Spring Valley is ranked 32nd).
Dutch Fork's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Bogan, who scored 11 points. Justus Bell was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Dutch Fork and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for Spring Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-6.
Dutch Fork will look to defend their home court on Friday against Brookland-Cayce at 7:45 p.m. Spring Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Richland Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Hopefully Richland Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday.
