Mary G. Montgomery stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 34-7 win over Daphne. With Mary G. Montgomery ahead 27-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
It was another big night for Jared Hollins, who threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was James Bolton, who picked up 142 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Mary G. Montgomery's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Meanwhile, Robertsdale fell victim to Spanish Fort's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Toros on the road and fell 45-0. While losing is never fun, Robertsdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Spanish Fort is ranked 20th).
Mary G. Montgomery's win was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.11 points. As for Robertsdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
