If the Shoals Jug Rox were riding high off their 57-9 takedown of the Washington Catholic Cardinals last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Shoals had to suffer through a rough 83-26 loss at the hands of North Knox. While losing is never fun, Shoals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while North Knox is ranked 24th).
North Knox's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brynna Collins led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Collins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Alex Mckinley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six steals.
Shoals' loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-13. As for North Knox, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shoals will face off against Barr-Reeve at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Barr-Reeve focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday. As for North Knox, they will head out on the road to challenge North Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully North Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Tuesday.
