The Challenger Firebirds had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Lake Lure Classical Academy with a sharp 40-17 win on Thursday. Challenger has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Challenger to victory, but perhaps none more so than LeeAnna Killian, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Grace Boston, who scored six points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Lake Lure Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Moira Turner, who scored eight points along with eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Luckadoo, who scored three points along with three steals.
Challenger's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-13 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Lake Lure Classical Academy will head out to face Reynolds Mountain Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Challenger will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on February 12th.
