Wilkinson County Christian Academy and Tallulah Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2024, but likely not for long. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Wilkinson County Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Ben's Ford Christian with a sharp 16-9 victory on Friday. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Wesley Sanchez was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Easton Buteaux, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Wilkinson County Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Tallulah Academy got the win against River Oaks on Thursday by a conclusive 9-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.
JT McDaniel and Luke Moberley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, McDaniel kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Moberley pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, McDaniel went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Moberley went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Vining, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Tripp Gayle was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
The victory was the third in a row for Wilkinson County Christian Academy, bringing their record up to 6-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Tallulah Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Wilkinson County Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Tallulah Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
