The Centennial Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Brentwood 70-35. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while Brentwood is ranked 12th).
Despite the loss, Centennial still got an impressive performance from Addison Gorday, who scored 17 points along with five steals. That was a full 48.6% of Centennial's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Ella Ryan, who scored 30 points along with nine rebounds and six steals for Brentwood. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ryan has scored at least a third of Brentwood's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Halstead, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Centennial's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-13. As for Brentwood, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Centennial will head out on the road to square off against Summit at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brentwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nolensville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nolensville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.9 points per game.
