The Gaston Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 51-15 loss at the hands of Sand Rock. While losing is never fun, Gaston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Sand Rock is ranked 84th).
It was another big night for Katelyn St.clair, who scored 18 points along with four steals for Sand Rock. That makes it three consecutive games in which St.clair has scored at least a third of Sand Rock's points. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Henderson, who scored two points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Gaston has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Sand Rock, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.
Gaston will head out on the road to face off against Hokes Bluff at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Hokes Bluff's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Gaston has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Sand Rock will take on Coosa Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
