The Lake Minneola Hawks will head out to take on the Harmony Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Lake Minneola is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Cornerstone Charter Academy on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to the Ducks. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Ducks: they've now lost five in a row.
Lake Minneola saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amaliz Martinez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Harmony made sure to put some runs up on the board against East River two weeks ago. Harmony blew past East River 13-6. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.
McKenzie Whitehouse and Lindsay Green made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Whitehouse tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Green tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Whitehouse scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Green scored two runs while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits Green has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Emerson Aslan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Diaz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Harmony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Harmony has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Lake Minneola's loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Lake Minneola hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Harmony struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
