Morgan Lalonde made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hannah Schimmoeller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Haylee Robinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Oak Harbor hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Eastwood had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Flyers.
Like Oak Harbor, Eastwood also got a great game from a two-way player: MacKenzie Hady. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Hady has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Lubash, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Addison Bowe, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Oak Harbor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Eastwood, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Eastwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oak Harbor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Eastwood, though, as they've only averaged .332. Will they be able to contain Oak Harbor's hitters?
