Softball Recap: Deep Run Has No Trouble Against J.R. Tucker

Deep Run got themselves on the board against J.R. Tucker on Friday, but J.R. Tucker never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-0 win. The Wildcats not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.

Brooke Wommack made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gabby Chrapek and Brooke Black did most of the damage at the plate: Chrapek went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two triples, while Black fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two triples gave Chrapek a new career-high. Braelyn Baulsir was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Deep Run was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as J.R. Tucker only posted a batting average of .188.

The victory got Deep Run back to even at 1-1. As for J.R. Tucker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
