CLOVIS, Calif. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Central (Fresno, Calif.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Grizzlies bested Clovis East (Clovis, Calif.) 49-0.
The Grizzlies were up 35-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
L.j. Moore in the first quarter.
Even though Central led by 35 points entering the fourth quarter, it poured the points on, scoring 14 in the fourth.
Moore played well for CHS in the victory. The senior wide receiver threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
Led by
Hatari Byrd, the Fresno school went into the matchup giving up only 16.6 points per game.
A 37-0 Central victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
Next week, Central (8-2) will take on Clovis West in a Tri-River game. The Golden Eagles enter the tilt sporting a 2-7 record for the season.
