The Durham Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Pierce Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Durham is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
On Monday, it was close, but Durham sidestepped Winters for a 5-3 victory.
Annalee Horn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Horn wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trinity Kolu, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Sadie Sjolund was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pierce lost 23-16 to Willows on Friday.
Rylie Delepierre made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Danica Wilkerson, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Durham's record is now 11-6. As for Pierce, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
Pierce's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Durham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pierce, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Durham keep running through batters, or will the Bears buck the trend?
Durham got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Pierce by a conclusive 11-2 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
