The Cascade Cadets lost to the South Vermillion Wildcats back in November of 2019, but The Cascade Cadets didn't allow the South Vermillion Wildcats the same satisfaction on Friday. Cascade put the hurt on South Vermillion with a sharp 41-20 victory. The result was nothing new for Cascade, who have now won five matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Cascade's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damien Appleby, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Toby Savini, who gained 133 total yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding South Vermillion to a paltry 214 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cascade's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Josiah Murrain and his two sacks.
When it comes to explaining why South Vermillion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dallas Coleman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 26 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 64 receiving yards.
Cascade's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for South Vermillion, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.
Cascade will head out on the road to face off against Southmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Wyatt Woodall and Savini. South Vermillion does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
