The Liberty Christian Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 56-29 loss at the hands of Genoa Christian Academy. Liberty Christian Academy has not had much luck with Genoa Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Liberty Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shelby Carr. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 26 rebounds. That was a full 37.9% of Liberty Christian Academy's points, marking the 18th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Leah Kinley was her usual excellent self, scoring 11 points along with six assists and four steals for Genoa Christian Academy. Another player making a difference was Gabbie Kirwin, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Liberty Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Genoa Christian Academy, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Delaware Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Liberty Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday. Genoa Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Centerburg at 6:00 p.m. on February 15th. Centerburg is on a three-game streak of home wins, Genoa Christian Academy a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
