After both having extra time off, the Lutheran Mustangs and the Natalia Mustangs will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 9:00 a.m. on December 28th. Lutheran is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Lutheran's 26-12 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting San Antonio Christian an easy 48-26 victory. While losing is never fun, Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1360th, while San Antonio Christian is ranked 459th).
Meanwhile, Natalia lost to South San Antonio West at home by a decisive 43-25 margin last Friday. Natalia has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Natalia's defeat came about despite a quality game from Anaya Jones, who scored nine points. Jones hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games.
Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Natalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
Lutheran might still be hurting after the 56-33 loss they got from Natalia in their previous meeting back in November of 2015. Can Lutheran avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
