The Dorchester Academy Raiders lost against the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Dorchester Academy fell 53-44 to the Cavaliers. Dorchester Academy has not had much luck with the Cavaliers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Calhoun Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Strickland, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Strickland hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Colt Layton, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and four steals.
Dorchester Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Calhoun Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dorchester Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. Patrick Henry Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 66.2 points per game this season. As for Calhoun Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
